KAISERSLAUTERN, Germany — University of Maryland University College Europe is offering $700 scholarships for new students enrolling in at least two fall semester courses.
Active-duty servicemembers and military dependents enrolling in at least two courses can also apply for a $150 award to cover book purchases, said UMUC spokeswoman Brooke Brown. New and returning students qualify for the award.
Registration is under way through Aug. 19. Classes start Aug. 20.
The school offers classes online and at 70 locations throughout Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
Tuition for undergraduate students is $249 per credit. Graduate students are charged $323 per credit. Most courses are three credits each.
New or expanded online courses for the fall semester include history, psychology, business management, cybersecurity and geography, Brown said.
Roughly 55,000 active-duty servicemembers, veterans, reservists and military dependents were enrolled in UMUC institutions last year.
Many students use scholarships and federal grants and loans to help cover tuition costs. More than $1.2 million in scholarship funds were awarded to UMUC students overseas last year.
