STUTTGART, Germany — A memorial service for Wanda McCollar, a longtime teacher at schools in Europe and the Pacific, will take place Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. at Mark Twain Village Chapel in Heidelberg, according to the Department of Defense Education Activity.
McCollar, who taught advanced-placement English for the Department of Defense Activity Virtual School in Wiesbaden, died May 15 after a short illness, DODEA said.
McCollar was a 43-year veteran of the DODEA organization. She taught English at Heidelberg High School before her appointment with the Virtual School. During her four-decade career she taught numerous subjects, including humanities and video production.
She also was a published poet, according to DODEA.
