(Tribune News Service) — The front-facing voice of the Trump administration will be Karoline Leavitt, the president-elect announced Friday night.
The 27-year-old Leavitt, who is from New Hampshire, now becomes the youngest person to serve as White House press secretary.
She was the Trump Campaign National Press Secretary and previously served in the 45th president’s White House as assistant press secretary, the campaign said in her announcement. She also ran for Congress in the Granite State.
“Karoline Leavitt did a phenomenal job as the National Press Secretary on my Historic Campaign, and I am pleased to announce she will serve as White House Press Secretary,” President-elect Donald Trump said in a statement emailed to The Boston Herald.
“Karoline is smart, tough, and has proven to be a highly effective communicator. I have the utmost confidence she will excel at the podium, and help deliver our message to the American People as we, Make America Great Again,” Trump added.
This makes Leavitt the voice of the incoming administration.
In 2022, Leavitt won the Republican nomination in New Hampshire’s 1st Congressional District before Rep. Chris Pappas defeated her in the general election, according to WMUR-TV in New Hampshire.
The Saint Anselm College grad is from Hampton, New Hampshire, and she also worked for U.S. Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y., nominated to be the incoming administration’s U.N. ambassador.
Leavitt follows former Trump press secretaries Sean Spicer, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Stephanie Grisham and Kayleigh McEnany all held the highly visible White House post during the president-elect’s first term, The New York Post reported.
The new mom wrote on Instagram her baby boy is in the “ultimate blessing” adding she “can’t wait” for her son to read about her journey when he’s older. Her husband Nick named their son Nicholas, who was born in July.
