An airstrike conducted by U.S. Central Command forces on Friday in Northwest Syria killed a senior official in an al-Qaida affiliate, CENTCOM announced Saturday.

The precision airstrike killed Wasim Tahsin Bayraqdar, a senior leadership facilitator of the terrorist organization Hurras al-Din.

The strike comes just a week a similar airstrike killed another Hurras al-Din senior operative.

“We will relentlessly pursue and destroy terrorist threats, no matter their location, in order to protect our homeland and our allies and partners,” said CENTCOM commander Army Gen. Michael Erik Kurilla.⁩

The strike was part of CENTCOM’s ongoing commitment to disrupt terrorism in the region.
