The American woman charged in the fatal stabbing of a man at the Kaiserslautern train station last summer was given probation after being found guilty this week of manslaughter, local media outlets reported.

The 21-year-old, whose name was not disclosed, received a suspended sentence with two years of probation after a trial in Kaiserslautern Regional Court.

She was being tried in the June 29, 2024, death of the 64-year-old man, who was stabbed during an altercation. She said she acted in self-defense after the man grabbed her buttocks. The events were captured on train station security cameras.

Prosecutors charged the woman with bodily harm resulting in death, but the court decided on manslaughter. It ruled that after defending herself, she then deliberately advanced on the man and stabbed him.

The woman, who was 20 years old at the time of the stabbing, was also sentenced to 500 hours of community service and participation in drug treatment.
