All DODEA schools will be closed Thursday in honor of former President Jimmy Carter.

Carter, who served a term in the White House from 1977 to 1981, died at the age of 100 on Dec. 29 at his home in Plains, Ga. Carter’s funeral will be held on Thursday, and President Joe Biden ordered federal offices closed and gave government employees the day off to observe a national day of mourning. U.S. flags will be flown at half-staff for 30 days after Carter’s death at federal buildings, military posts, naval stations and on naval vessels.
