Registration begins soon for a worldwide football video game competition for service members that comes with a chance to win a free trip to watch NFL action.

This is the third year of the United Service Organization’s “Madden NFL” tournament. Starting Sept. 1, military personnel can sign up to play the popular EA Sports video game in hopes of capturing one of the top two spots — and the Super Bowl tickets that go with them.

All active-duty troops, reservists and National Guard members around the globe are eligible to participate.

The competition will be divided into three regions: the Americas, the Pacific and Europe, the Middle East and Africa. It begins Sept. 1 with four weeks of virtual qualifiers.

In October, each region will hold a virtual playoff, and the top eight finishers will win travel and accommodations to participate in the in-person finals in Dallas at the Salute to Service game on Nov. 12. The matchup for that game is the New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys.

Each of the two tournament winners will receive a pair of tickets to Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas, and the USO will provide travel and accommodations.

“Through our long-standing partnership with the NFL, we’ve been able to positively impact countless service members and families no matter where they are in the world,” said Christopher Plamp, a USO executive.

Registration will be online at USO.org/showdown. Tournament details and updates can be found on the USO Discord server discord.gg/theuso or at #USOMadden on X, the platform previously known as Twitter.
