Why a US Navy captain ordered a military funeral for a kamikaze pilot during WWII

Off the coast of Japan 80 years ago, a U.S. naval captain ordered his battleship to hold a burial at sea for a kamikaze pilot who died slamming his fighter plane into the American vessel. The museum aboard the USS Missouri hosted a ceremony Friday marking the anniversary of those events. Organizers say they tell a story of compassion and humanity in the midst of one of World War II’s worst battles.
