SEOUL — Brig. Gen. Eric P. Wendt assumed command of Special Operations Command Korea and the United Nations Command Special Operations during a ceremony Tuesday at U.S. Army Garrison Yongsan.
Wendt most recently served in Afghanistan as deputy commander of Regional Command-North, International Security Assistance Force, North Atlantic Treaty Organization and Operation Enduring Freedom.
He spent 2009-11 at the Pentagon on the U.S. Office of the Secretary of Defense staff as director for special operations policy and as the principal military assistant to the secretary of defense. Wendt also served in Operation Enduring Freedom-Philippines and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
He replaces Brig. Gen. Neil H. Tolley, who will retire at the beginning of next year.
