8:05 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13, Guam time: Tropical Storm Man-yi made passage just south of Guam early Wednesday morning, according to Joint Typhoon Warning Center and National Weather Service. Guam remained in Condition of Readiness 1 and a tropical storm warning remains in effect for Guam and Rota and has been canceled for Saipan and Tinian as of 8 a.m., according to the National Weather Service.
Public, private and Department of Defense schools and government offices on island are to be closed Wednesday, various agencies announced. Only emergency essential personnel are expected to report for duty, Joint Region Marianas announced.
At 7 a.m., Man-yi was 50 miles southwest of Guam, headed southwest at 18 mph with 50-mph sustained winds and 65-mph gusts at center, NWS reports. Tropical storm-force winds continue to extend 85 miles from Man-yi’s center. Expect plenty of rain from Man-yi and be careful of flooding in low-lying areas.
