1:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, Guam time: Guam may possibly be facing its second typhoon in five months. Not as severe as Super Typhoon Mawar, but it’s forecast to be a typhoon, its initial forecast track takes it just northeast of Guam, and let’s face it: All tropical cyclones are bad, regardless of forecast wind speed.

Tropical Depression 15W spawned overnight Friday about 700 miles southeast of Guam. Its initial forecast track from Joint Typhoon Warning Center has it passing 12 miles northeast of Andersen Air Force Base early Tuesday evening as a Category 1-equivalent system, 86-mph sustained winds and 104-mph gusts at center.

U.S. bases on Guam remain in seasonal Tropical Cyclone Condition of Readiness 4, as it does year round, due to Guam being located in the tropics and close to areas where typhoons tend to form. Storm Tracker has the watch.
