YOKOTA AIR BASE, Japan – Time to bust out the ornaments, tinsel and lights — Christmas trees are making their way to Pacific bases.
This year, the Army and Air Force Exchange Service will bring in approximately 1,200 trees to Okinawa, 800 to mainland Japan and 700 to Korea, according said Sgt. 1st Class Jon Cupp, spokesman for AAFES Pacific headquarters at Camp Foster on Okinawa.
The trees — Douglas Fir and Noble Pines that will cost between $26 and $53 — were ordered in July and are being shipped from Yule Tree Farms in Aurora, Ore., Cupp said.
Over at the Navy Exchange, they will be selling Douglas Fir, Noble Fir and Grand trees at selected NEX locations. Prices of the tree will run between $18 to $53, NEX officials said Wednesday.
