YOKOSUKA NAVAL BASE, Japan — Roller derby players from across the Tokyo metro area recently came together for a friendly match at the U.S. 7th Fleet’s home south of the city.
Friends and family gathered June 17 at Purdy Gym to watch the men and women of the Sushi Rollers of Yokosuka; the Fuji Flatliners of Yokota Air Base; the Zama Killer Katanas of Camp Zama; and off-base teams the Samurai Warriors and Neon Roller Monsters.
The teams combined to form two mixed teams named The Vampires and The Werewolves.
During half-time, some of the athletes performed typical roller-derby jumps over other players for entertainment.

The Werewolves prevailed in a close contest; the final score was 120 to 121.
