NILE C. KINNICK RED DEVILS
Far East tournament titles — 12, third-most all-time.
Head coach — Stan Hovell, first season (takes over for Gary Wilson, who coached for 11 seasons).
Key performers — Wendell Harrison, Jr., 158; Bryce Adams, Sr., 158; Braden Askins, Jr., 180-215; Bobby Crisafulli, Jr., heavyweight; Dylan Evans, Jr., heavyweight.
Outlook — Starting over, but with a cadre of assistants with All-Navy experience, including Navy Senior Chief Stephen Zakarauskas. Hovell also has four girls on the roster. Hovell, a retired lieutenant commander, wrestled at Galesville-Ettrick-Trempealeau High School in Wisconsin.
Division II
ROBERT D. EDGREN EAGLES
Far East tournament titles — 11, most all-time in D-II, fourth-most all-time overall.
Head coach — Justin Edmonds, 17th season.
Key performers — Sebastian Sanchez, So., 141-148; Nikolas Hawkins, So., 148; Sidney Cogswell, So., 148-158; Connor Huachaipetch, Jr., 135.
Outlook — Rebuilding. Young; no seniors on the roster.
MATTHEW C. PERRY SAMURAI
Head coach — Billy Henry, first season; Dave Campbell, second season.
Key performers — Kirby Kendrick, Sr., 158; Greg Campbell, So., 122; Sebastian Campbell, So., 115; Xavier Mitchell, Fr., 108; Maddix Larue, Sr., 215; Kail Kitko, So., 135; T.J. Johnson., So.; Xander Grantham, So., 180-215.
Outlook — Reloading-contending. About twice as many wrestlers in the room as last year. The super soph Campbell twins are hoping to better their DODEA-Japan tournament titles of last season. Four girls are on the roster.
YOKOTA PANTHERS
Far East tournament titles — Six in D-II, eight overall.
Head coach — Theo Kuntz, second season.
Key performers — Tate Rannow, Sr., 148; Kaiyo Heinrichs, Jr., 168; Kai Patton, Jr., 132-138.
Outlook — Rebuilding. A young team; many seniors graduated, others didn’t come back out. It could be a struggle. One of the graduates, Nick Sales, is assisting Kuntz, as is an Air Force Academy graduate, Jake Thompson.
ZAMA TROJANS
Far East tournament titles — Three in D-II, five overall.
Coach — Guy Snyder, fourth season.
Key performers — Destin Malone, So., 135; Larry Chiu, Jr., 168 (transferred from the States).
Outlook — A young squad with no seniors on it. Both Malone and Chiu show some promise.
E.J. KING COBRAS
Coach — Paul Dougherty, second season.
Key performers — Ashton Wall, Sr., 180; Joseph McGrath, Jr., 148; Arona Headley, So., 135; Jude Cutler, Fr., 129; Christian Hecox, Sr., 215; Tom Irby, Jr., 168.
Outlook — Rebuilding-reloading. Second year with the same coaching staff in place, Dougherty and Tim Zimmerman. They expect big things from Wall, McGrath and Headley, while the rest show promise.
