Two of Europe’s most prolific scorers closed the regular season with a bang Saturday.

Aviano’s Jamal Tuck won the battle, finishing with 37 points, but Lorenzo Mannozzi, who canned five three-pointers en route to 34 points, won the war as the American Overseas School of Rome handed the visiting Saints their first loss of the season 82-71.

AOSR (9-5) won the game with a 25-10 third-quarter run that enabled it to overcome a 36-34 halftime deficit and get revenge for the Saints’ 82-49 victory Friday.

Aviano, which concluded its regular season with a 13-1 overall mark, clinched the Region IV title last week.

The Saints were led Friday by 22 points, 11 rebounds, five steals and four assists from Sean Outing. Mannozzi and Tuck were relatively quiet: Tuck had 16 points, and Mannozzi scored 13 points and handed out three assists.

Both teams are scheduled to play Feb. 24-27 in the European Division II tournament at Mannheim, where Aviano is the defending champion.

In other boys games of note Saturday:

Heidelberg 75, Vilseck 61: At Heidelberg, Eugene Jones scored 21 points to lead a quartet of Lions in double figures. Devin Jackson and Xavier Moore each added 16 points, and Marcel Simon tallied 10 to help Heidelberg (9-2 overall, 8-2 in Region III) complete the sweep.

Heidelberg, behind Jackson’s game-high 23 points, routed Vilseck 93-52 Friday.

Black Forest Academy 44, Bamberg 39 (OT): At Kandern, Germany, BFA held Bamberg to just seven first-half points but then had to outscore the visitors 14-11 in the final quarter to tie the game at 36 and send it into overtime.

BFA got a game-high 18 points from James McClelland to gain the weekend split.

Bamberg won 45-37 Friday behind 17 points by Quadel Webb. Bamberg is 7-5 overall, 5-5 in Region III. BFA is 2-8, 2-6.

Lakenheath 62, AFNORTH 50: At Lakenheath, the Lancers’ press forced enough fourth-quarter turnovers to produce a 22-6 run.

The pressure helped Lakenheath close its regular season at 6-6 overall and 4-3 in Region I — good enough for a tie with SHAPE for the Region I big-schools title.

The victory came despite another huge game by AFNORTH’s Yannick Hickman, who chalked up 27 points and nine rebounds.

On Friday, he had 24 points, eight rebounds, four steals and a blocked shot in a 45-37 loss to the Lancers.

Zach Randolph led Lakenheath. He tallied 13 points Friday and 15 Saturday.

Menwith Hill 35, Brussels 20: At Menwith Hill, Chris Jackson scored a game-high 11 points and registered six steals and two assists, and Josh Willis yanked down 10 rebounds to lead the Mustangs.

Menwith Hill will take a 4-6 overall record into this week’s regular-season finale against visiting and winless Alconbury. Brussels finished its regular season 4-7.

Wiesbaden 70, Bitburg 66: At Bitburg, the Warriors salvaged a split behind 28 points from Tyreese Davis in a Region II game.

Davis outdueled Bitburg’s Cameron Jackson, who scored 26 points.

The Barons, 69-59 victors on Friday, also behind 26 Jackson points, are 6-4 overall and 3-4 in the region. Wiesbaden is 7-5, 3-5.
