All-Europe running back Evan Canfield rushed for two touchdowns Saturday as visiting Ramstein, the two-time defending European Division I champion, clinched the Division I-North conference football title with a 20-7 victory over Kaiserslautern.

Canfield’s first TD gave the Royals (4-2 overall, 2-0 in I-North) a 14-7 halftime lead. Ramstein had taken a 6-0 lead on a short run by Tim Ortiz that capped the game’s opening drive.

Kaiserslautern (4-2, 1-1) took the lead moments later when Khairi Smith, who rushed 12 times for 49 yards, went over from the 2. Brendan Rapier’s PAT kick put K-town up for the only time.

Canfield’s second TD came in the third quarter. The PAT attempt was blocked.

The Red Raiders downed Heidelberg 24-22 on the Lions’ field in the regular season. Ramstein will play I-South runner-up Vilseck in the other D-I semifinal. Vilseck beat visiting Ramstein 21-14 in September.
