E.J. Ruiz completed 12 of 16 passes for 228 yards and two touchdowns and rushed 10 times for 174 yards and two TDs as the AFNORTH Lions set up a conference-title showdown against Baumholder with a 44-6 romp over winless Hohenfels on Saturday.

Josh Ruiz, who caught five of his brother’s passes for 167 yards, hauled in one of the TD tosses for AFNORTH (5-0). Tizhaun Carroll grabbed the other.

Kevin Kropp carried the ball four times for 58 yards and a TD for AFNORTH, which got 68 rushing yards on just four carries and three sacks and nine solo stops from All-Europe linebacker Brock Blankenship.

AFNORTH’s Aaron Black also came up with two sacks.

Hohenfels (0-5), which broke James Robinson for 180 rushing yards, closes its season by playing host to Munich of the German League on Saturday.

Robinson set up the Tigers’ lone TD, a five-yard run by Josh Cooper, with runs of 69 and 15 yards.

AFNORTH and defending European D-III champion Baumholder, both unbeaten in league play, will meet Saturday at AFNORTH for the regular-season title. Both are guaranteed home games in the European semifinals Oct. 25.

In other Division III and IV games:

Baumholder 46, Vicenza 7: At Baumholder, Edgar Acosta, Prince Owusu and Daniel Harris each ran for two touchdowns as the Bucs romped.

None of the scoring runs covered more than 5 yards. Tackle Sean Ledbetter joined them with a 1-yard TD run in the third quarter.

Harris led Baumholder (4-1 overall, 3-0 D-II) with 92 yards on 16 carries, according to Baumholder assistant coach Erik Majorwitz. Acosta completed 6 of 10 passes for 126 yards .

Brian Boatner, with two forced fumbles and a sack, led the Bucs’ defense, which benefited from a fumble recovery and sack by Todd Harrison, a fumble recovery by Cody Clay and an interception by Acosta.

Vicenza (3-2, 1-2) got 110 passing yards and a TD from Micky Stoner, who was 17 for 28.

Vicenza plays host to Sigonella on Saturday, with the winner traveling to the No. 2 team for the D-III semifinals and the loser taking on No. 1 on the road.

Alconbury 41, Brussels 7: At Alconbury, the Dragons set up a home D-IV showdown this Saturday against Menwith Hill by turning Devin Pryor loose for 186 rushing yards and four touchdowns and a 42-yard punt return for a TD.

Pryor carried just four times in the nine-man game played in D-IV for 46.5 yards per carry. Alconbury QB Jimmy Luong completed three passes for 140 yards and a touchdown. Luong also ran for a TD as the Dragons (3-2) tied Menwith Hill for second place in D-IV. The No. 1 and No. 2 D-IV schools advance to the European title game Nov. 1.

Mike Proietto ran 55 yards for the lone TD for Brussels (0-5). Mike Seeley led the Brigands with 99 yards on 17 rushes.
