(Tribune News Service) — Tickets to the annual Army-Navy Game have soared in price on the secondary market in recent seasons. This year’s game is no different.

Ticketing technology company Victory Live shared in a press release that tickets for this year’s Army-Navy Game are going for an average of $657 on the secondary market.

That’s a dramatic increase from 2018, when average secondary market prices were $285 per ticket. In 2019, the number jumped to $347. The price in 2021 was $256, per Victory Live. That rose to $344 in 2022 and a whopping $620 in 2023.

The 2018, 2019 and 2022 games were all played in Philadelphia, while the 2021 game was played in New Jersey and last year’s Army-Navy game took place in Massachusetts. This year’s game will be played in Maryland, at Northwest Stadium in Landover.

It’s not a surprise to see this year’s game become a hot ticket. Not only is the Army-Navy Game a beloved annual tradition making its return to Maryland, but this year’s matchup also features two of the best Army and Navy teams in recent memory.

Army is an impressive 11-1, winning the American Athletic Conference behind a dynamic offense and a suffocating defense. The Knights were ranked 22nd in the final College Football Playoff ranking, with only Notre Dame (No. 5) and Boise State (No. 9) ranked higher among programs outside the ACC, Big 12, Big Ten, and SEC.

Bryson Daily, Army’s starting quarterback, won AAC Player of the Year honors for a spectacular season. Daily is tied with Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty for the nation’s lead with 29 rushing touchdowns. That’s elite company, as Jeanty is a Heisman Trophy finalist and projected NFL draft pick.

As for Navy, the Midshipmen went 8-3 this season with a signature victory over No. 25 Memphis. The Mids are led by their star quarterback Blake Horvath, who averages 6.7 yards per carry, which is seventh-best nationally. He’s also an accurate and efficient passer, which pairs well with his game-changing speed.

Saturday’s game is only the third team in series history that both teams have at least eight wins upon meeting.
