FRANKFURT (Stars and Stripes) — "Europe has passed the time when it could produce a great power," Bishop Martin Niemoeller, president of the Evangelical Church in Hesse and Nassau, told more than 200 members of the 3d Armd Div and their guests at the Edwards Casern Chapel here Monday night.

The bishop, who spent eight years In concentration camps because of his opposition to Adolph Hitler's policies during the Nazi era, saw a possibility for the resurgence of nazism in Germany, but said it could not result in the re-establishment of Germany as a great power.

Bishop Niemoeller warned that if Germany is not reunited by democratic means within five or six years, unification could take place through action of the 500,000 West German and 300,000 East German soldiers who will be under arms by that time. Niemoeller said their feelings towards the U.S. and Russia will not be as strong as the kindred feeling for each other, and then "800,000 soldiers, without the use of force, will reunite. The German Army will be credited for reunification and nazism can return."
