KAISERSLAUTERN, Germany — Ramstein Intermediate School fourth-grader Grace Anne Remey reads from her self-published book, “Lion’s Pride on the Move,” during the school’s celebration Monday of “Read Across America Day.”
Schools across the nation typically observe the day on or around Dr. Seuss’s March 2 birthday. Organized by the National Education Association, “Read Across America Day” is designed to promote reading among children and young adults.
Grace has self-published two books she wrote and illustrated centered on common issues military children face. She hopes her books inspire other kids to write down their own stories.
Grace’s dad, an Air Force combat search and rescue officer, has deployed seven times in the 10 years since she was born.
