CAMP FOSTER, Okinawa — The Marine Corps on Wednesday identified a Marine who died after being found unconscious in his quarters.

Lance Cpl. Michael Tuttle, 21, of Fountaintown, Ind., was unresponsive when found in his barracks room at Camp Kinser Tuesday morning and was later pronounced dead at U.S. Naval Hospital Okinawa. No other details were available and cause of death is under investigation.

Tuttle was assigned to 3rd Maintenance Battalion, Combat Logistics Regiment 35, 3rd Marine Logistics Group, III Marine Expeditionary Force, according to a Marine Corps statement.

“Lance Cpl. Michael Tuttle was an integral part of the Electronic Maintenance Company and 3rd Maintenance Battalion team,” his platoon commander, Warrant Officer Joshua Thompson, said in the statement. “His work ethic and dedication to duty set the standard for others. He was constantly outgoing and always brought a smile to everyone he came in contact with.”

Tuttle is survived by his mother and father, Misty and Michael, as well as four siblings, the statement said.
