The Kunsan Air Base golf course will undergo an $85,000 redesign next spring to make the course more challenging.
“This is part of their quality-of-life issues and we want to be part of it,” said Bo Linder, manager of the West Winds Golf Course. “(The course) is too easy, too short, they want it a little bit more challenge and that’s what we want to provide them.”
Groundbreaking on the course is scheduled to begin in April and construction will last approximately 60 days.
“I think it’s going to offer more of a mental challenge when you go out there,” Linder said. “It’s the same routine, and we’re trying to change that for them. It will require more thought process.”
Golfers played more than 23,000 rounds at West Winds last year, making the golf course the second busiest in the Air Force. The redesign of the golf course should cut down on congestion, Linder said.
“That’s one of our primary purposes in doing that,” he said. “I think it’s really going to help a lot.”
He said the course will probably remain open during the renovation.
