Col. Kenneth Williams assumed command Wednesday of the 2nd Sustainment Brigade, which provides support for the 2nd Infantry Division and the 8th Army in South Korea.
The brigade has 1,358 soldiers and nearly 200 family members distributed across five camps stretching more than 155 miles from Camp Carroll near the southern city of Daegu to Camp Casey near the front lines with North Korea.
Williams, who was previously the 8th Army’s assistant chief of staff, takes the helm of the brigade from Col. Timothy White as the 2nd Infantry Division is preparing to shift most of its battalions south to an expanded Camp Humphreys.
Maj. Gen. Theodore Martin, the 2nd Infantry Division commander, called the brigade “a disciplined, expertly maintained, superbly trained team of fighting logisticians led by inspiring leaders of character,” in remarks at the change of command ceremony at Camp Carroll.
