RAMSTEIN AIR BASE, Germany — Col. Robert C. Kane, commander of the 86th Airlift Wing at Ramstein Air Base, has been nominated to the rank of brigadier general, according to a Department of Defense news release.
Kane currently leads a wing with a primary mission of conducting airlift, airdrop and aeromedical evacuation operations from the European hub. The wing consists of four groups, 14 squadrons and a detachment.
Prior to becoming the 86th commander, he served as the wing’s vice commander.
Previous assignments include a tour as the 6th Operations Group commander at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Fla.
Kane also is a pilot with 3,800 hours of flight time in various Air Force aircraft.
