You’re never far from the beach in Guam, but some of the best spots are hiding in plain sight.

Tumon’s Matapang Beach Park, almost dead center along Tumon Bay, offers crystal-clear waters, white sand and breathtaking views — but you might miss it if you don’t look closely.

Flanked on both sides by hotels — the Holiday Resort Guam to the northeast and the Crowne Plaza Resort Guam to the southwest — this small park has plenty of parking and is easily accessible from Pale San Vitores Road, Tumon’s main drag.

The beachfront offers plenty of space to spread out and get some sun, throw around a football or go for a swim in the bay. Further offshore, several pavilions are available for family get-togethers, parties and barbecues.

Thanks to the park’s central location on the bay, it also provides one of the best locations for an oceanside view of the sunset flanked by the Harmon Village cliffs.

Public amenities include a shower and restroom, making it the perfect spot to bring the entire family for a morning, afternoon or evening beach trip.
