Suwon’s Starfield Mall officially opened in late January, and it’s not your average retail, entertainment and dining space.
This eight-floor facility, the largest mall in the largest city in Gyeonggi province, just south of Seoul, houses more than 60 clothing, lifestyle and beauty stores.
Its tenants also include more than 20 restaurants and cafes with a wide variety of cuisines, from Korean classics to American-style burgers, to choose from.
Shopaholics will be excited to know that Starfield is filled with popular Korean and international clothing brands, including Nike, H&M and Top Ten. Everyone should find something to suit their fashion sense.
Starfield is a venture of the Shinsegae Group, the largest retail conglomerate in South Korea.
If shopping isn’t your thing, the mall has many other reasons to check it out.
One notable attraction is the Vinyl Starfield Suwon, a cafe where you can relax, drink coffee and enjoy your favorite tunes from a collection of more than 10,000 records.
What caught my attention was the Starfield Library, the largest library in a Starfield mall thus far. It covers the fourth to seventh floors and has thousands of English and Korean books and magazines to choose from.
The library also plans concerts and specials similar to Ted Talks. You can find the schedule of these events on its website.
With the opening of this mega mall, people will be adding Suwon to their list of places to visit in South Korea.
