1. FC Kaiserslautern lost its third straight game over the weekend, falling to Eintracht 2-0 in Braunschweig. The loss dropped FCK to seventh place in the second division standings.

The Red Devils’ main problem now is scoring goals. They only scored one goal in the three-loss span, a Marlon Ritter penalty against Nuremberg.

They had no shots on goal in the first half against Braunschweig, which has now won three straight games. The Lions scored two goals early in the second half, putting them out front as the Red Devils finally got their offensive engine running a little, with scoring chances by Leon Robinson and Ragnar Ache, but neither could convert.

Despite the loss, the team is still only three points behind third place Magdeburg and the chance for a promotion playoff against a Bundesliga team.

Cologne (54 points), Magdeburg (49) and Paderborn (48) were the winners this weekend, while Hamburg (53), Elversberg (48) and Düsseldorf (48) could only tie, leaving FCK (46) and Nuremberg (44) as the losers in the battle for the Bundesliga.

Kaiserslautern hosts Schalke 04 at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday at Fritz Walter Stadium. Another team, like FCK with a long, storied soccer history, Schalke has played a disappointing season and is in a lowly 13th place, with 38 points.

The following weekend The Red Devils travel to arch-rival Karlsruhe, before hosting Darmstadt on May 11, before ending the season with a trip to league-leading 1. FC Cologne on May 18.
