Fairy tales, fast cars and fabulous queens in the KMC this weekend

Easter fun is everywhere this weekend, but there’s plenty more going on in the KMC! From diving into World War II history to celebrating drag herstory, here are the can’t-miss events happening April 18-20.

Youth theater: Fairy tales get flipped during “The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon,” a fast-paced spoof performed by youth actors and presented by KMC Onstage. Shows are Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m., and Sunday at 2 p.m., at the Kaiserslautern Community Activity Center on Daenner Kaserne. Advance tickets are $16 for adults and $14 for ages 2-18 and 65+. Add $2 at the door.

Culinary Panorama and History Hike: Explore the past and taste the region on a 3.1-mile guided trek featuring World War II landmarks and scenic views, with local specialties served along the way. The walk departs Bruchmühlbach-Miesau Saturday at 10:30 a.m. and is followed by a free lunch. Admission is free, but registration is required.

Medieval Market: Jousting and jesters await at this medieval celebration at Gelterswoog in Kaiserslautern, running Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Step into a world of knights, crafts and old-world fun. Entry is 11 euros for adults, and 7 euros for children or those in costume.

American Car Show: Engines roar and chrome gleams at this showcase of U.S. cars rolling into Sam Kullman’s Diner in Kaiserslautern on Saturday at 7 p.m. Whether you’ve got a ride or just love the vibe, all are welcome. Admission is free.

RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 17 Finale Party: Wigs will fly and queens will reign at this viewing party at IYKYK in Kaiserslautern on Saturday at 9 p.m. Come for the looks, stay for the drama. Attendance is free.

Zoo Season Begins: Monkeys, peacocks and more return as Kaiserslautern Zoo reopens for the first day of the season Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is 10.50 euros for adults, 7.50 euros for children.
