The Easter bunny is expected to bring traffic jams, crowded trains and busy airports throughout Germany this weekend.
The Thursday before Easter is typically one of the most congested travel days of the year in Germany. Good Friday and Easter Monday are also likely to see significant delays, according to the Allgemeiner Deutscher Automobil-Club, Germany’s largest automobile association.
Random border checks introduced last September remain in effect and could contribute to slow cross-border travel by car, though officials say major backups are unlikely.
Additionally, Deutsche Bahn expects heavy demand on long-distance trains during peak days and urges travelers to reserve seats in advance. Ongoing rail maintenance could lead to delays, and riders are advised to check routes ahead of time via the DB website or app.
Frankfurt Airport is also bracing for high passenger volume. Travelers with checked bags should arrive 2.5 hours before departure; those with only carry-on luggage should plan for two hours. Security screening time slots can be reserved for free through the FRA SmartWay service.
