Barrels, board games and barbecue in the KMC this weekend

Whether you’re sipping wine from the barrel, gaming with friends or shopping under the stars, this weekend is packed with ways to enjoy spring in the Kaiserslautern Military Community. Here are six events worth checking out April 11–13:

Barrel on the Street: Sip wine straight from the barrel and soak in a relaxed village vibe at this unique festival in Duttweiler on Friday from 1 p.m. to 11 p.m. Admission is free.

Moonlit market: Wander through artisan stalls and shop a wide range of regional goods under the stars at this cozy nighttime market in Lebach on Friday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Admission is free.

Youth theater: Watch fairy tales get flipped upside-down in “The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon,” a fast-paced spoof performed by youth actors and presented by the award-winning KMC Onstage at the Kaiserslautern Community Activity Center on Daenner Kaserne. Shows are Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m., and Sunday at 2 p.m. Advance tickets are $16; $14 for ages 2 to 18 and those 65 and older. There will be a $2 surcharge at the door.

Street food festival: Feast on a fusion of fine dining and open-flame barbecue at this award-winning festival in Frankenthal on Friday from 5:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. and Saturday through Sunday from noon to 11 p.m. Admission is free.

Anime and gaming convention: Level up your weekend with tournaments, workshops and nonstop board games at this convention celebrating Japanese media in Lebach on Saturday at 10 a.m. Admission is 6 euros per person. Children under 10 get in free.

Gourmet market: Savor local wines and browse gourmet goodies, from handcrafted macarons to organic meats, at this charming specialty market in Flörsheim-Dalsheim on Sunday beginning at 10 a.m. Admission is free.
