Musical theater, medieval knights and moonlit walks in the KMC this weekend

Whether you’re in the mood to explore your host nation or stick close to base this weekend, we’ve got you covered with a selection of exciting events happening in the KMC.

Almond Blossom Train Tour: Take in the beautiful sights and smells of blossoming almond trees during this round-trip train ride from Herxheim to Klingenmunster’s St. Nicholas Chapel Friday from 2 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. This guided tour of the area’s vibrant pink and red almond blossoms includes round-trip train travel, coffee, cake and a small wine tasting for 45 euros per person.

Ruthless! The Musical: The award-winning KMC Onstage presents the story of little Tina Denmark, who will do anything to be a star. If you like “Toddlers and Tiaras,” catch this live show at the Kaiserslautern Community Activity Center on Daenner Kaserne Fridays at 7 p.m., Saturdays at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., and Sundays at 2 p.m. through March 23. Advance tickets are $16 for adults or $14 for children ages 2-18 and spectators age 65 or older. A $2 surcharge will be applied to all tickets purchased at the door.

Medieval Fair: Don your suit of armor or your corseted robes for an open-air festival celebrating the Middle Ages in Manneheim’s Herzogenried Park all weekend long! Blacksmiths, jugglers and other merchants and entertainers will be on site to dazzle you with their unique displays. Admission is 9 euros for adults, 7 euros for Herzogenried Park beneficiaries and annual ticket holders, 5 euros for children ages 6-15, and 4 euros for children with annual tickets. The fun runs from 3 p.m. - 9 p.m. on Friday, 11 a.m. - 9 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. on Sunday.

Torch Hike: Join the City of Kaiserslautern’s Forestry Department for their annual torch-lit hike to Humberg Tower Saturday at 7 p.m. Swedish log fires, bonfires and an ensemble of horn players await hikers at the tower, which offers unparalleled views of Kaiserslautern. Hiking the public trail is free but bring cash if you want to carry a torch or enjoy a snack during the hike.
