A security exercise will take place this week at Ramstein Air Base. (86th Airlift Wing)

Ramstein Air Base will hold its regularly scheduled Operation Varsity exercise beginning Monday and lasting through March 14.

Besides traffic delays, base and local residents in past exercises have seen and heard greater emergency response activity related to the exercise, such as loudspeaker announcements, sirens and emergency vehicles.

Operation Varsity is a quarterly exercise using simulated scenarios, including logistics and cargo movement, contingency planning, aircraft incidents and emergency response.
