BYOB: KMC commissaries say goodbye to free plastic bags

Starting Friday, all commissary shoppers in the KMC must bring their own bags or purchase a reusable option.

The change is part of a Europe-wide initiative aimed at reducing plastic waste.

Customers who forget bags can buy a variety of options ranging from 9 cents to $5.

The new rules also apply to online orders. Ramstein officials say they will use cardboard boxes instead of plastic bags if shoppers do not bring their own.
