The Clock Tower Cafe on Kleber Kaserne is expected to remain closed until early March amid ongoing refurbishments.
Work to upgrade the facility started Monday and includes a new fire alarm system, aluminum panel ceiling with lights, and an improved kitchen space, U.S. Army Garrison Rheinland-Pfalz said in a statement Friday.
Troops affected by the closure will continue receiving their subsistence allowance for food if they already do during the construction period, the Garrison said, adding that it had also teamed up with AAFES to bring food trucks on post until the refurbishments are complete.
Discussions are underway to shuttle service members from Kleber to the DFAC on Rhine Ordnance Barracks, but as of now, nothing has been finalized.
“We are all looking forward to the new improvements and upgrades to the cafe and believe that there are enough good food options and alternatives available locally to the service members and all the personnel who work on Kleber,” the garrison said.
A sign posted to the main entrance of the Clock Tower Cafe says it will likely remain closed until March 9.
