Recycling bins will soon replace the yellow bags city center residents use to dispose of packaging waste, according to Kaiserslautern’s cityscape management department.
Waste management company Jakob Becker Group will distribute the new yellow trash cans from mid-February to the end of March. Each container will have a label and barcode identifying the owner’s address and container number.
The new yellow-topped trash cans are free of charge and can be used immediately upon delivery. Until then, the city and Jakob Becker Group ask residents to continue using the yellow bags. Residents can pick up additional bags without a collection card at any city center recycling center.
The city center districts include Bännjerrück/Karl-Pfaff-Siedlung, Betzenberg, Grubentälchen/Volkspark, inner city north/Kaiserberg, inner city east, inner city southwest, inner city west/Kotten, Kaiserslautern West, and Lämmchesberg/Uniwohnstadt.
Residents in local districts outside the city center will continue using yellow bins without disruption.
The current paper waste volume was used to determine each residence’s yellow bin size according to the company.
Exchanges will be possible in April after initial container distribution is complete. Anyone with questions about the changeover should contact the waste management company by phone at +49 (0)6303 804 1009 or email at gelbetonne-kl@jakob-becker.de.
