Kaiserslautern and surrounding areas are expected to ring in 2025 with a bang. Residents are allowed to set off their own fireworks on Dec. 31 and Jan. 1. In Kaiserslautern’s downtown, you can expect people setting off random fireworks for several hours before and after midnight.

Explosions can often be heard throughout the night, which may cause heightened anxiety for some people and pets. It also could be triggering for those suffering from PTSD.

Fireworks are prohibited on military bases. Off base, they’re not allowed to be set off near gas stations, churches, hospitals and retirement homes.

Fireworks displays after Jan. 1 are regulated and require special permits.
