It’s the last weekend to get out and enjoy the nearby markets as Christmas quickly approaches. There’s still plenty to do if you’d already had your fill of gluehwein and roasted nuts. Here’s what’s going on this weekend around the KMC:
Elf Search at the Market: The elves are up to mischief on Schillerplatz at the Kaiserslautern Christmas Market. Until Saturday children and the young at heart can search for the hidden troublemakers around the market and help save Christmas. Participants can scan a QR code on one of the elves to guess the total number of Santa’s little helpers hidden in the market. Everyone with correct guesses will have a chance to win one of three 20 euro vouchers for Smyths Toys.
Kaiserslautern Christmas Circus: It’s Christmas under the “Big Top” starting today until Jan. 6. The holiday themed program includes acrobats, clowns, horses, magicians and more. The shows start at 4 p.m. Sunday-Friday with a 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. showtime on Saturdays. The circus is located at Entersweilerstrasse 52, on L504. Borschtsch Benefit Festival: Charity organization “Ukranians in Trier” welcome all to a holiday festival near the Porta Nigra in Trier. Artists and artisans from Germany, Ukraine, Luxembourg, and France will offer handcrafted items and authentic Ukrainian dishes. Funds for this event will go towards supporting a hospital in the Donetsk region in Ukraine. The festival runs from noon-7 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
Holiday Salsa Party: Turn up the heat on Saturday night at the Armstrong’s Club, building 1036, in the Vogelweh housing area. Dance the night away at this free event that runs from 8 p.m. - 1 a.m. Click here or call 061-11-143-9115 for more information.

The trip includes transportation, hiking gear, and a guide for a five-mile trek through the enchanting forests of Dahn, Germany. The cost is $18.
