A 24-year-old man is facing criminal charges after he urinated on a church in downtown Kaiserslautern on Thursday and injured police officers in an ensuing scuffle at the Christmas market, according to the Westpfalz Police Department.

Officers noticed the man relieving himself on the church on Stiftsstrasse shortly after 9 p.m. and banned him from the entire Christmas market area, a police statement said.

But less than an hour later, he was spotted lingering around a market stall. During the arrest, the intoxicated man put up a fight and injured two officers, the statement said.

Police eventually got the situation under control and brought the man in for a blood test. He is charged with resisting arrest, according to police.
