A BMW driving toward Bruecken around 3 a.m. Monday left the road in a bend and rolled almost 100 meters in a field after passing another vehicle on Highway 423, the Kaiserslautern police said Monday. The 29-old-driver tried to get back on the road after his BMW came to a stop but got stuck in a ditch. Police responding to the scene observed the driver was under the influence of alcohol and determined he was driving too fast for nighttime conditions, according to their report. During the police investigation, it was discovered that the driver had also cut off another vehicle’s right-of-way in the Bruecken area and sped away after the near-collision. The man’s license was confiscated and his vehicle, which was no longer operable, was towed.
