1. FC Kaiserslautern defeated Braunschweig 3-2 at home Sunday to stay undefeated in its last five games.
The Red Devils got off to a good start with midfielder Filip Kaloc scoring in the 17th minute with a left-foot shot on a pass from striker Ragnar Ache.
Ache put FCK up 2-0 in the 41st minute, netting a pass from Daniel Hanslik, for his eighth goal of the season.
Rayan Philippe closed the gap for Braunschweig, in the 45th minute, making it 2-1 on a penalty after Frank Ronstadt fouled Johan Gomez in the box.
But the Red Devils went back up by two goals, when Hanslik scored in the second minute of stoppage time.
The 45,615 spectators at Fritz Walter Stadium saw an unexciting second half until the sixth minute of stoppage time, when Phillipe scored his second goal of the game on a mistake by FCK keeper Julian Krahl.
The Red Devils held on for the win and moved up to ninth place in the second division standings, with 20 points. Braunschweig remains in 15th place.
Next up for Kaiserslautern is a trip to Gelsenkirchen for a 6:30 p.m. Friday game against Schalke 04.
The Red Devils return to the Betzenberg on Dec. 7 for a 1 p.m. match against long-time rival Karlsruhe SC.
