Ramstein A6 junction reopens, partially relieving traffic woes

The A6 westbound junction at Ramstein-Miesenbach reopened Thursday, allowing many commuters easier access to Ramstein Air Base and Landstuhl.

Workers cleared the barricades overnight at the autobahn junction, which had closed last month for repairs. The repairs were completed slightly ahead of schedule; an August announcement indicated construction would wrap up Nov. 22.

The main long-term projects now center around Landstuhl. Construction on L470 between the Landstuhl satellite station and L465 began July 29, affecting access to Landstuhl Regional Medical Center. That’s expected to last until April.

Meanwhile, traffic through downtown Landstuhl is expected to be diverted well into 2026 as part of the Kaiserstrasse renovation project.
