An American driver was responsible for a series of rear-end collisions on autobahn A6 on Wednesday morning, according to Kaiserslautern police.

The 36-year-old crashed into the rear of the car in front of her near the Bruchmühlbach-Miesau junction, and in the ensuing traffic jam, two other cars hit each other, police said.

The second crash caused minor injuries, and the autobahn was closed for about 45 minutes to clear up the damage, authorities said.
