Gas prices through the military’s partnership with Esso in Germany have fallen nearly 10% over the last five months.

A gallon of gas cost $3.48 for E-10, $4.03 for super and $4.39 for premium as of Tuesday, according to the latest Army and Air Force Exchange Service figures.

Gas prices typically drop following summer vacations but also reflect falling prices for crude oil. Prices in the United States are down 13% since their April peak, according to AAA’s website.

Military-affiliated consumers in the Esso program are typically paying about 60% less than they would by paying full German prices. On the flip side, they’re paying more than Americans back home, except for higher-priced states like California. The average price of gasoline nationwide cost $3.08 for regular, $3.55 for mid-grade and $3.90 for premium, AAA’s website said Tuesday.
