The KMC is full of adventure with wine, superheroes, underground exploration, a North Pole rescue mission and more. Here’s what’s going on this Veterans Day weekend:
Pirmasens November Market (Nov. 8-10): The annual market features a heated festival tent on the Schlossplatz hosting several Pfalz-region winemakers. Local Hotel-Restaurant Kunz will also serve up seasonal dishes paired with the wine offerings. Visitors young and old can also take in a bird’s eye view of the town on the 114-feet tall Ferris wheel. Stores in the town center will also open for Sunday shopping from 1 to 6 p.m. The market is open Friday from 4 to 10 p.m., Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Strongcon II (Nov. 9): Armstrong’s Club is hosting its second comic convention and flea market with a variety of activities for the whole family in the Vogelweh housing area. Vendors will sell comic books, trading cards, games and more. Other events include trading card and board gaming, raffle drawings and a costume contest. Food is available onsite. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. with a 5 euro entry fee.
Kaiserslautern Underground Tour (Nov. 9): Explore Kaiserslautern history and maybe even see an ancient skeleton Saturday during an English-guided tour of the city’s underground tunnels. The tour begins in the Count Palatine Hall of the former Casimir Castle and continues through the tunnels, which span about 80 yards and pass through several rooms. The tour meeting point is at Fruchthallstrasse 14 in downtown Kaiserslautern at 11:15 a.m. and lasts about an hour and a half. Tickets are 7 euro per person and registration is required via email or at + 49 631 365 4019.
Free Movie Screening of “Red One” (Nov. 9): In honor of Veterans Day, Exchange Reel Time Theaters and Amazon Studios are offering an advance screening of the upcoming Christmas adventure film “Red One.” When Santa Claus (J.K. Simmons) is kidnapped, Callum Drift (Dwayne Johnson), the head of North Pole security, must team up with bounty hunter Jack O’Malley (Chris Evans) to rescue St. Nick. The movie starts at 6 p.m.
Coins and Coffee on Veterans Day (Nov. 11): Veterans can stop by the Ramstein Exchange on Monday at 11 a.m. to receive a limited-edition Veterans Day challenge coin. While there, drop by Starbucks with your military ID card to get a free tall drip coffee.
