The city of Kaiserslautern is reminding residents that electronics and appliances should be recycled and not thrown away as household waste.

Electrical appliances can be picked up free of charge from a residence up to twice a year, the city said in a statement released Tuesday.

Pick-ups are limited to two large appliances or three monitors, a “household quantity” of smaller electrical appliances, and other small items such as plugs or extension cables.

The city carried out around 5,000 electronic waste pick-ups last year.

Alternatively, electrical appliances can be dropped off at municipal recycling centers free of charge with a limit of two large appliances or two televisions per visit.

Residents can contact Kaiserslautern city image maintenance service to schedule a pick-up by phone at (0631) 365-3521, by email at abholservice@stadtbildpflege-kl.de or via the Stadtbildpflege Kaiserslautern app.
