Kaiserslautern’s Ragnar Ache goes against the Magdeburg defense in the Red Devils 2-2 tie on Sunday afternoon at Fritz Walter Stadium (1.FC Kaiserslautern)

1.FC Kaiserslautern came back from an early 2-0 deficit Sunday afternoon to tie Magdeburg 2-2 at Fritz Walter Stadium.

Samuel Loric got the guests on the board first, scoring a left-footer in the 11th minute. Two minutes later ex-Red Devil Philipp Hercher scored the 2-0 past keeper Julian Krahl.

FCK had a couple of scoring possibilities in front of 45,104 spectators, before getting on the board on a penalty. Falko Michel fouled Daisuke Yokota in the box and Boris Tomiak converted the penalty in the 32nd minute to narrow the score.

Michel, carded for his foul on Yokota, was sent from the pitch in the 36th minute after being carded for another foul, leaving Kaiserslautern a man up.

The advantage was obvious in the second half, with the Red Devils taking charge, despite a few Magdeburg fast break opportunities.

The well-earned tying goal fell in the 68th minute when Ragnar Ache struck with a header on a corner from Luca Sirch. It was the Kaiserslautern striker’s seventh goal of the season.

A series of Kaiserslautern scoring opportunities followed, but no player found the net, with Ache hitting the post in the 85 minute.

Magdeburg lost another player to a yellow-red card in the third minute of stoppage time, but FCK could not take the advantage of being two players up for the final minute of play.

The tie leaves Kaiserslautern in 10th place in the second division table with 16 points. Magdeburg is in seventh place.

Next up for the Red Devils is at 6:30 p.m. on Friday in Nuremberg, who is coached by former FCK star Miroslav Klose.

Kaiserslautern is back at Fritz Walter Stadium on Nov. 24 for a match against Braunschweig.
