A driver in a stolen car tried to access Kapaun Air Station, Kaiserslautern police told K-Town Now on Thursday.

The driver, 27, didn’t have a license when he rolled up to the gate Wednesday afternoon, Westpfalz police said in a statement. A security check found that the car theft had been reported in Hamburg, about 400 miles to the north of Kaiserslautern.

U.S. military police informed their local counterparts, who arrived at the scene.

“After consultation with the responsible public prosecutor’s office in Hamburg, an arrest warrant was issued,” the statement said.
