1. FCK Kaiserslautern remained winless in five games after losing to Elversberg 1-0 on Saturday (X/1. FC Kaiserslautern)

The Red Devils lost at neighboring Elversberg 1-0 Saturday, extending their winless streak to five games.

FCK got off to a good start at Elversberg’s sold-out Ursapharm Arena, dominating play in the first half. But the team was unable to score and went to intermission in a scoreless tie.

Elversberg woke up in the second half, pressuring Kaiserslautern until they scored the game-winner on a right-footer by Muhammad Damar in the 66th minute.

A three-player substitution by FCK coach Markus Anfang in the 73rd minute did not do much to change the flow of the game and Elversberg went on to win their third game of the season.

For Kaiserslautern, it was the second straight game where the team failed to score.

The loss dropped the Red Devils to 12th place in the second division table, with nine points. Elversberg climbed to ninth.

The leagues take a pause next week for national team play.

The Red Devils return to Fritz Walter Stadium Oct. 19, for a Saturday night game against Paderborn.
