A road rage incident involving a delivery van and a passenger vehicle led to a fight on a three-lane section of the autobahn Wednesday evening, Westpfalz police said.

The incident began around 9:30 p.m. on the A6, in the direction of Saarbruecken, near Ramstein, when the driver of a delivery van reportedly blocked other vehicles from overtaking, police said in a statement.

A car with a Kusel license plate attempted to pass, leading to the van nearly pushing the car into the median and braking sharply multiple times.

In response, the car driver forced the van to stop and both vehicles came to a halt in the right lane of the highway, according to police. Three individuals then exited the van, resulting in a brief scuffle on the roadway.

The van fled the scene but was later located by police along with its occupants. No serious injuries were reported, though authorities noted the actions of all involved had significant potential for harm. Authorities are asking witnesses to contact the autobahn police in Kaiserslautern with any information regarding the incident.
