Police are investigating an incident that left an 18-year-old German man seriously injured early Sunday morning on Zollamtstrasse, according to the Westpfalz Police Department.

The man reportedly left a nightclub around 4:20 a.m. and walked toward the train station. He could not recall anything after that point, he told police.

The circumstances of how the man was injured remain unclear. Federal police found him outside the station exit around 5 a.m., and he was taken to a hospital by ambulance.

Authorities are asking for witnesses who noticed anything suspicious on Zollamtstrasse during that time frame to contact them at 0631 369-2250.
